How Custom Clothing Manufacturing Works

Design to delivered stock in about five weeks. Every stage, every timing and every payment point, written down before you commit to anything.

The five stages

Day 0 — reply within 24 hours

Send us your design

A tech pack if you have one. A sketch, a reference photo, or a garment you own and like the fit of works just as well. We read it the same working day and come back with the questions that actually matter — fabric weight, fit, decoration method, quantity per colour.

  • If you have no tech pack we build it for you, at no charge
  • If you have a garment you want matched, measure it flat and send the numbers
  • Artwork is best as vector (.ai, .eps, .pdf); 300 dpi at actual print size also works
Within 24 hours

Quote and mockup

You get a visual mockup so you can see the product before anything is made, and a written quote: unit price at your quantity, decoration, shipping, and the landed cost including duty where it applies. The quote you approve is the price you pay.

  • Unit price at your quantity, and at the next quantity break so you can compare
  • Duty confirmed against your garment’s commodity code rather than estimated
  • Nothing hidden: no agent commission, no surprise freight charge
5–7 business days, by DHL

Pre-production sample

One finished garment made to your spec on the same line that will run your bulk order. You hold it, check the fabric hand, the fit, the stitching and the decoration, and you approve it or tell us what to change. Sample cost is quoted up front and is credited 100% toward your first production order from 50 pieces.

  • Revisions are normal — most first samples need at least one
  • Nothing goes to bulk until you have signed it off
2–4 weeks depending on quantity

Bulk production

Production starts on a 30% deposit once you have approved the sample. Every order goes through the same four-stage quality control regardless of size — a 20-piece trial run is inspected exactly as a 5,000-piece order is.

  • 4-point fabric inspection on all incoming material
  • In-line checks during sewing
  • AQL 2.5 random sampling after production
  • Final photo documentation before shipment
3–7 days express worldwide

Delivery

The remaining 70% is due before shipping. Garments go out folded and packed with your own labels, tags and packaging, by DHL or FedEx. DDP is available, which means we handle export, freight and import clearance and you receive sealed cartons ready to sell.

  • Sea freight for container-scale orders, 4–5 weeks
  • DDP to the UK, EU, USA, Canada, Australia and 25+ other countries

What we need from you to start

  • What the garment is — type, fabric weight if you know it, fit
  • How many — per style, per colour. Our minimum is 50 pieces per style per colour, or 20 as a trial run
  • Your artwork — logo, print or embroidery files
  • Where it is going — so the quote includes real shipping and duty

Not got all of that yet? Send what you have. Plenty of brands we work with started with a sketch and a colour.

That five weeks assumes one sample round. Two rounds is common on a first order with a new brand, which adds a week or so. We would rather say that now than quote you four weeks and miss it — if you have a hard deadline, tell us at the quote stage and we will say plainly whether it is achievable.

Common questions about the process

Can I skip the sample and go straight to bulk?

You can, but we advise against it and will say so. The sample is the only point at which a fit or fabric problem costs one garment instead of your whole order.

What if the sample is not right?

We revise it. Most first samples need at least one revision — that is what the stage is for, not a sign anything has gone wrong.

Do I need a tech pack?

No. We build one from your sketches, reference photos or a garment you already own, at no charge. A free tech pack template is on the site if you would rather start from one.

Who owns the designs?

You do. We sign a confidentiality agreement before viewing any design, and your artwork is never used on another customer’s product or shown as our own work.
